Although I haven't read the Farmer's Almanac, I just read an article that states that the Farmer's Almanac for 2015 states that we will be in "Piercing cold with normal snowfall". That means... perhaps another polar vortex?
I've been paying attention to the trees and crops. They don't tend to start turning until the final week in August or the first week in September but I'm already starting to see trees turn and one bean field to the south of the Sanctuary is starting to turn already.
We need to be prepared at the Sanctuary if it's going to be another cold winter. The katydids are already singing, which means six weeks from the first song, we'll get a hard freeze. That puts us into the middle of September. I hope that old wives tale is wrong. But if not, we need to start scrambling...and fast. There's too much to do that the Sanctuary before winter sets in. I know everyone is thinking final days of summer and school starting, but winter will be just around the corner and i'm as close to being prepared for winter as I was at the beginning of summer.
Sure hope the Farmer's Almanac is wrong but I won't count on it.
