No Diet Day

Lets have some fun this May. I already missed a few "holidays" but there's still plenty more!

Today is No Diet Day (gotta love that right?!). So lets help our horses on this No Diet Day and help us with our 2019/20202 day fund. We need to purchase big rounds and sadly we also need to purchase small squares of hay and alfalfa as our stock pile is completely depleted after a crazy winter.

We are starting now with our hay fundraising so that we can return our focus to fencing later this summer. Want to help feed the horses this winter? $5 buys a small square of hay (or hopefully a square of alfalfa). $70 buys a big round of straight hay (fingers crossed that's the going rate this year).

Pondering

Last month we found fun and somewhat obscure holidays to celebrate. I had fun posting them and hope that everyone else had fun learning about these silly holidays. The world is so full of negativity that it was nice to see some fun. It's easy to get down in the dumps, especially when dealing with this crazy weather we've been having but it's always good to look at the bright side.

This past weekend we had our Light the Night Part Two fundraiser. We'd tried in March during the Tri State Horse Expo but with the downpour of rain and resulting flooding, it wasn't as good as I had hoped. So when Gentle Spirits suggested we tag along on their fundraiser (as we've done in years past), we said Yes! It was fun to meet people but my introverted-ness got the better of me and I wasn't nearly as chatty as I would have liked.

I've been dealing with a bit of burnout lately. I shouldn't complain though. There's others that have it so much worse than we do. The horses are happy and healthy (although Mayhem cut her leg so we've been treating a nasty cut for the past week). I think we've been running a lot with the kids' activities and I foresee a summer filled with events and activities. That means time will be limited for Sanctuary work and that stresses me out. I had high hopes of doing a couple of fundraisers and I'm not sure how that will work now. We missed out on a couple of fundraisers last year because I was pregnant and put everything on hold. I'd like to make up for that hold by hosting a few more fundraisers but I'm struggling to find activities that would benefit the Sanctuary and donors.

So I'll ask the question. What do you want to see from the Sanctuary? Do you want more silly online holidays? Do you want more serious fundraising activities? And if so, what could some of them be? Do you want to see more pictures of the horses or know more about the individual horses? What can we do to improve your experience at the Sanctuary?
