Dear Family & Friends,
Hooves & Paws Rescue in Glenwood, IA has been contacted by Dr. McDole, a USDA Vet attached to FEMA regarding the animals involved in the flooding. We are also working with many individuals in Iowa, Nebraska and beyond on placement of their dog's, cat's and horses due to the flooding.

According to Dr. McDole in the area he is dealing with right now, Pierre, S.D. so far they seem to have a place for the dogs, cats and smaller animals to go but this my change. His concern is the horses and he has asked for our assistance. There will be horses needing places to go. He has no idea when or how many. We also have had calls for Stallions that need places to go. These Stallions are able to be haltered, walk well on leads and come from controlled environments.

We received many calls from individuals in Iowa & Nebraska regarding offers to help with dogs & horses in the last few days but more help is needed. We are also in desperate need of hay.

If Hwy 34 or Hwy 75 are closed we could be in trouble getting to our hay supplier. We are stocking up as much as possible for the horses we are taking in and our fields will not last long with the number of horses we have here at our facility. We actually are down to almost nothing now in our grazing fields and we are feeding hay several times a day. We would like to get enough hay on our property to make sure that we do not have to travel to get hay when the flooding hits.

All of the animals at our facility ARE SAFE. We are on high ground. But others in the area are not so lucky. They will need places to go. Possibly for months due to the flooding.

Also, if power is shut down for any period of time we will need a power generator to keep the water supply going for the animals. We have bought many hoses and we have set up additional watering tanks for the horses so that everyone has a place to get water at all times. We also have many watering areas set up for the rescued dog's at our facility so they will always have a supply of water.

As of Saturday June 4, 2011 Hooves & Paws Rescue has received calls for help with many dogs and 27 horses. So far, we have placed them all in temp fosters or they have come to our facility and will remain with us until the flooding is under control and people can get back into their homes.

Again, the following are supplies & help that will be needed as animals come into our facility. We are also willing to store animal feed for others rescues & shelters needing it for their animals that will be displaced.

*Monetary Donations For Animal Supplies & Animal Feed
*Emergency temp long term foster homes for all types of animals
*Dog Food & Cat Food
*Hay, both round and square bales
*Horse Feed
*Power Generator*Electrician To Wire The Generator
*Tarps to cover the hay to keep it dry. Once it gets wet it molds in the heat and can't be fed to horses.

***Prayers for the animals that are in the flood area's that need a place to go.
It is just my husband and I at our facility and we both also work full time, so this is going to be a rough few months with the number of animals we will be caring for at our facility. But they will all be safe and loved while with us as all of our animals are.

We will be available by phone 24 hours a day for emergency animal placement. We have a list of resources for the animals if for any reason we are not able to help immediately.

Also, if you know any elderly that are in the areas that are effected by the flooding please check on them. Let's make sure they all get out safe. Many have no resources and live alone.

Leaving your animals in the flooded areas IS NOT AN OPTION. They will not survive. Please call for help if you need it! We are gated so please, if you need assistance call ahead as our gates are locked at all times for the safety of all of our animals at our facility.

Thank you & God Bless.
